New Milton Town 0 - 2 Hungerford

Hungerford travelled to the depths of the New Forest for the second time in two seasons in an FA competition, last seasons win at Bashley will be long remembered, the trip 10 miles further down the road a year on will be long forgotten

With  Luke Brewer missing for personal reasons, Mark Jones came into the side at right back allowing Adam Pilling to partner Nick McCrae in the middle and McMeeking moved into central midfield. charlie Austin was again preffered to Ian Concannon up front with Jamie gosling.

Hungerford started very brightly and Jamie Gosling was to the fore. The opening goal came in quick time after a poorly cleared corner Toby Clark found Gosling free down the left his cross was thumped in by nick McCrae from close range. Hungerford had thier tails up Gosling just failed to find Edney with a cross soon after and then saw a shot of his own half blocked and steered off the line.

Jamie gosling was getting around the defence with ease and another cross was headed over by Charlie Austin then a Gosling corner flicked on by Austin was headed over by Nick McCrae.

The second goal soon came when Toby Clark slipped another through ball in Jamie Gosling pounced by rounding the keeper and stroking into the empty net with 20mins gone.

Hungerford looked poised for a goal blitz but the game turned scrappy as New Milton realised a third would be the very end for them, a stop start passage of play with lots of petty fouls didnt help the game. This scrappyness carried on until just before half time when gosling put Charlie Austin clean through but alas the young foward shot straight at the new Milton keeper.

The scored reamianed 2 -0 to Hungerford at the break and the Crusaders will have felt both pleased yet dissapointed at the break. a bright start to the game had turned sloppy but surely a regroup at half time and a goal fest should be on in the second half.

Charlie Austin limped off just after the break and surprisingly alan calrk opted for Adam Giles over Ian concannon. Mark Jones joined Austin in the treatment table he was replaced by Dan Beck.

Disapointly Hungerford continued to play out the second half as they had ended the first. Gosling looking bright but the chances he created were being squanderd. In fact a very unispiring half was played out with the host hustling and bustling but never reallying looking like scoring.

Frustration built in the team and sleepyness built within the supporters. chances did come and go Ben Fitch scuffed at a shot when it looked easier to score, Adam Giles drove a shot into the New Forest from 30 yards but thankfully it was ended and Hungerford looked guilty winners.

Team

Dominic - had little to do, kicking was good

Joner - Comeback half

Pillsy - Running battle with the referee who was a more tricky oppenent than the Milton forward

Macca (N) - another great game him and Gosling were the stand out players

Tobs - great through balls for the goals held himself together despite a silly booking

Macca (M) - showed us what he could do in midfield - which was good but a bit like Brewer lite

gosser - Bright and proved the difference between the win and another Melksham
