AFC Wallingford 1 - 6 Hungerford Town

Hungerford rose to 5th in the table after this convincing display at Wallingford, which was acheived without reglulars to the side Shand, Terry McCrae & Beck.

It was Jamie Gosling who opened the scoring in the first minute when he was given the freedom of the Wallingford penalty area, Jay needed no other invation as he curled the ball into the goal off the far post.

Wallingford to their credit tried to play their way out of trouble and were not all out denfensive. They were rewarded when the grabbed an equaliser via a free kick that hit the bar and was headed home by a poaching striker.

This only stired Hungerford into action and the crusaders efforts were soon rewarded when a penalty was awarded after Fitch was brought down by the keeper. Gosling easily converted the spot kick.

The home side were struggling with the width that Hungerford were providing notablely from Fitch on the left who was a real thorn in the side of AFC Wallingford. He was involved in the third goal just before half  time and his cross was converted by Graham Edney, Edders playing in a wide right berth notching his 3rd goal in 4 games.

The second half belonged to Ian Concannon whose hat trick in 25 minutes showed the Hungerford faithful just what a preditory striker he his. Some of Hungerfords build up play was outstanding but it was Concannon who was there to convert the chances.

In the end 6 - 1 probably reflected the game, AFC Wallingford were not the worst side we've faced this season though so there is hope for them yet.
