After Saturday's defeat at the hand of Carterton Alan Clark made a couple of changes to the side to face unbeaten Flackwell Heath. Out went Shaun Terry, Adam Giles and Ian Concannon from the starting line up and in came Nick McCrae, Charlie Austin and Graham Edney.
It was the vistors who started brightly no doubt full of confidence due to their unbeaten start, but Hungerford soon found their feet looking very solid with McMeeking and McCrae at the back and full of energy with Brewer, Clark, Edney and Austin all working hard for the cause.
A quick break down the left resulted in the opening goal, Graham Edney making a great run before squaring the ball to Jamie Gosling who produced a cool finish into the far corner. This goal really settled Hungerford down and they started to dominate possession and play.
Charlie Austin who was working hard leading the line put pressure on the Flackwell Heath right back winning the ball and squaring for Edney who's 30 yard drive was well stopped on a slippery surface by the Heath keeper. Soon after Austin foud himself clean through one on one against the keeper but again the Flackwell stopper came out on top.
Hungerford were finding space down both flanks and Adam Pilling was making forward runs from right back, he found himself free on several occasions and was delivering some good crosses. From one of these centres Austin flashed a header just wide.
Flackwell were rocked back but produced a shot that hit the post after for once Hungerford's defence failed to clear. This was a rare attack by Flackwell however and soon after Austin slipped a ball through for Luke Brewer who's shot was again well saved by the Heath keeper.
Jamie Gosling was proving to be a thorn in the side of the defence but they managed to block the majority of his runs. They were producing a lot of corners and free kicks however and the Heath defence tried to find the solution to his questions.
From one such corner the second and ultimatley the winning goal came, the corner taken by Gosling was knocked short to Clark who in acres of space knocked it back to a still unmarked Gosling, his centre was met by the head of Austin who powered home from six yards to score his first league goal for the club.
Just before the break Austin again was causing problems after the keeper failed to make a cross another header sailed just wide albeit from a lot further out.
2nd Half
The second half played out much as the first did. Gosling again proving a handful and the first chance came from his centre which Brewer just failed to reach when the goal was open.
The Flackwell defence was looking more and more shaky with each defender blaming the other for the gaps in it, fortunately for them their keeper was on top form and he found himself in action again when an Austin shot was pushed wide after another defensive mix up. The Graham Edney went on a run right across the box from left to right his cross shot was parried wide too. From the corner Gosling's cross went just over Austin and Edney's heads.
Toby Clark was enjoying a fine game alongside Luke Brewer in central midfield and his through ball was met by Edney woh shot just wide of the far post. Soon after Gosling and Austin both went close again
Alan Clark brought on Ian Concannon for the hard working Austin late on in the half
McMeeking and McCrae at the back were handling everything Flackwell managed to throw at them and during the latter stages of the half Gosling & Concannon both went close again
Craig Shand and Mark Jones were also brough on for Fitch and Edney for the last five minutes
Flackwell heath did get a consolation at the death from a corner the Dominic Green failed to deal with even though he did look like he'd been blocked but that was the only black mark on a bright day for Hungerford.
